About Me

Rachel Tamilio

Hi I’m Rachel Tamilio!

Since building trust is where every great relationship begins, it’s only fair you know a little about me because as a client, I’ll need to know some about you and your life!

So here goes. I am a creative professional. I love the great outdoors, taking beautiful pictures, assembling video, time with loved ones and helping people. I am from the Boston area and have spent most of my time here.

I was 30 years old when I was diagnosed with an aggressive case of hodgkins lymphoma. The nasty mass had made a home in my mediastinum and wrapped itself around my windpipe.

By the grace and mercy of God, brilliant doctors and unwavering support of loved ones, I survived 6 months of hellacious chemo and 20 days of radiation. Doctors really didn’t think I was going to make it. God had other ideas.

Partly due to that crisis, after I started to recover, I decided I didn’t want to go back to the corporate world and began exploring other avenues for career that were more fulfilling.

Always having had a passion for stories, helping/empowering people, I found a home in relational selling. Just after I discovered this to be a more fulfilling path,  another crisis hit and priorities shifted.

My Mom was very ill and overnight I became a caregiver to her until she breathed her last in 2016. It was a gift to me and I have zero regret about putting life on hold to some degree, to take care of her.

Experience is the best teacher, but it’s also the toughest. I can have empathy and
compassion for people that are starting over or reinventing themselves, because I know
exactly how tough that can be. I also know how rewarding it can be.

It Started Small

On the heels of the painful loss of my mom, I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. For 4 years, my life was all about her every need and now she was gone. To say I felt lost and without a true sense of purpose is putting it mildly… A few years into my raw grief, a friend, also suffering a huge and recent loss told me she was going to open her own counseling practice. “Do you still do websites?” she asked. The next thing I knew I was building my friend a website. She was very happy with the end result and other things I did for her. So soon after completing her project, I decided that I would begin a business helping entrepreneurs. Creative By Design RT was born. (If you’re wondering about the logo, there’s a story behind why there’s a cardinal in it on my blog. Disclaimer: Grab a box of kleenex if you read it.)

Website Design to Agency

It started with website design, but as time went on and client list grew, I began to realize small business owners needed much more and so eventually I partnered with other professionals with decades of experience in other aspects of marketing. Today Creative By Design RT is a full service agency, providing quality services to small business owners. I love each of my clients. What agency can say that?

“Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.” — Winston Churchill

You cannot achieve what you have not defined.” — John C. Maxwell

I believe that each one of us was loving created and designed by God. As a creationist, I believe we were made in his likeness. That being said, each one of us inherently creative. Maybe your expression of creativity isn’t knitting or painting. That’s ok. Creativity is much deeper and far reaching than visual arts. “Creative by Design” isn’t about my company. It’s about all of us. We are creative. By design. (The RT is there because without it, that is the name of a kitchen renovation company!)
