Why Choose Bluehost

Before we get started, I want you to know that it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Bluehost and I.  Not too long ago, I entertained the idea of moving on from them. In the end, I decided to stick with them.  Overall, they have been helpful and patient with me when I have troubles and they are still one of less expensive and more user-friendly cPanels out there.

I was with Godaddy years ago and – let’s just say I didn’t like them at all! Nothing was simple. The littlest thing turned into a day long phone call. I’m not exaggerating too badly!

A Big Name Among Web Hosting Providers

When last I checked, Bluehost powers over 2 million websites and over 850,000 blogs around the world. They have a 99.9% uptime guarantee. On the whole, I haven’t experienced any downtime. The one time I did they got right on it and I haven’t had any issues since. Bluehost offers a 30-day money back guarantee, and they provide 24/7 customer support. Another great thing about Bluehost is they are cost effective. For as low as $2.95 you can get your Bluehost hosting along with a free domain name. I don’t know about you, but getting something for free is exciting!

Better still, you get a free domain name when you select a hosting plan. Search for the one you prefer. It may or may not be available. Decide if you want a .com, .biz, .info, etc. For business, I recommend you go with a .com, for an organization you may want to get a .org. There are many options and we can cover that in a separate post. Choose a name that’s easy for your visitors to type in. You’ll be glad you pick a simple one if you can. Make sure you like it because you’ll be stuck with it for a year or 2!

What if you already have a domain name?

That’s fine. It saves you a step here.

If you already purchased a domain name from another  registrar, type it in right where it says “I have a domain name.” Click the next button when you have finished.

How to Register a Domain Name.

To register a new domain name you will need a Bluehost Hosting Account. Above is the list of plans available.)

Once logged in to your Hosting Account, there will be two different ways to register a domain:

From the Register Sub-Tab, Login to your Bluehost Control Panel.

Click the Domains tab, click on the sub-tab Register, and enter your desired domain name. Click the check button and the green cart button to add the domain to your cart. Under your cart on the far right, click next. Review the registration Settings and click add to cart. Apply payment details, and checkout. From the Domains Page, login to your Bluehost Control Panel. Click the Domains tab. From the new domain search box to the left, enter your desired domain name in the “Find your domain field.” Click the get started button, Click the green cart button to add the domain to your cart. Under your cart on the far right, click next. Review the Registration Settings and click add to cart. Apply payment details, and checkout.  Additional Information for Registrants, Registrant Educational Information, Registrants’ Benefits and Responsibilities”
Once you’ve got that all done, select a hosting term.
Under the account information section, you will see package information.
Account plan is where you will choose your hosting term like 12, 24, 36, or 60 months. You will see the price per month is cheaper the farther out you purchase your Bluehost hosting for.

Once you purchase your hosting, you will see the setup fee and the domain name registration are free. You will now see a few add-on services Bluehost offers. These are entirely up to you to get. They aren’t necessary. The only addon service I recommend you go with is the domain privacy. The domain privacy keeps your personal information secure not showing it on the web. Bluehost’s information will be used instead. Unless you want spammers and robocalls, I recommend opting for privacy. Not sure if you want this now? No problem! You can add it on at a later date if you decide you need it. You will see the amount of money you are saving right under the add-on services.
Next, you’ll need to enter your payment information. This is pretty straight forward. Just make sure you select the “I have read and agreed to Bluehost’s Terms of Service.” Then click the green submit button.
Bluehost is going to email you your Bluehost login credentials along with some welcome emails. One of the emails Bluehost will ask you to verify your domain name. Make sure you do this, so your domain name doesn’t get canceled at a later date. If you purchased your domain name from another company, you don’t need to worry about this email. Next, in our how to start a website using Bluehost guide, you will be asked to create a password. Click the create your password button. You now want to enter a password that you would like to use for WordPress.

I use WordPress with Elementor Pro Page Builder for all of my sites. You do not have use either. You may build your website on something else and still use Bluehost. Your other options are available in the cPanel.
Bluehost currently offers over 55 website builders to build your site with. Login to Bluehost’s Cpanel to choose another website builder.

Here’s a few list of the Bluehost website builders:
